So I've finally got my brace of assassins to accomodate my Bret-playing friend who is so fond of forward charges with no peasant support. They look quite nice, and I simply can't wait to paint them. However, I have now reached a dilemma: how to paint the scoundrels!
For my regimented troops I have adopted a very formal feudal scheme with black, silver and white as the army-wide tie-in and an additional colour for each regiment's banners and highlights. However, it doesn't seem appropriate to paint assassins as feudally decorated soldiers when they are supposed to be hiding!
Still, the models look so great that I can't bring myself to just spray-paint them black for stealth and call it a job well done, so I am trying to find a solution to this problem and hope you can help me as well.
They probably will have a good amount of black just for hiding amongst the troops, but obviously I will be steering clear of bright white and shiny metal colours.
One option that presents itself is that of painting the assassin in dozens of subtle shades of grey, hopefully contributing to make it fade into the foreground and at the same requiring just a little time and effort. This also gives an affect of calculated camoflauge, without ruining my aesthetic with modern military colouring.
Also, if being from Naggaroth meant I could assume my army would be fighting in the snow (some work with the bases could give this affect as well as provide room for customization on the rest of the army), I think it would be very different from the norm to have the assassins' garb predominately white, with little accents of grey and black for a sort of arctic camoflauge (not as ridiculous in Warhammer as the green-black-and-brown woodland camo imo). Or maybe even a whole druchii army painted in arctic shades for stealth, that would definately be against the norm....
Well, what say you? Can anyone help in my predicament? _________________ "Ephemeral wretch, begotten by accident and toil, why do you force me to tell you what it would be your greatest boon not to hear? Firstly, I want PICS of what you've done. I believe 've ever seen any of your models.
Also, white could be awesome, but remember that white is THE hardest colour to paint out of all the colours. _________________ My Personal Blog |
